Update: Cal Poly cancels classes for second day due to storm: ‘A time of emergency’
• • •
Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo canceled classes on Monday due to the severe winter storm that has barreled into the Central Coast, resulting in widespread flooding, road closures and power outages.
The Cal Poly campus community received an emergency alert from the San Luis Obispo university Monday morning about the canceled classes.
“Due to storm conditions, all in-person and virtual classes have been canceled effective with this alert,” the note said. “All non-essential functions will be closed. Essential operations will continue.”
The university will provide students and staff with an update on Tuesday on whether classes will continue.
Cal Poly’s announcement comes after San Luis Coastal Unified School District canceled all classes on its campuses on Monday due to the powerful rain storm.
