Story Update: SLO County driver died after being overtaken by floodwater. Here’s what we know now
Original story
California Highway Patrol officers said a person died after driving past closure signs onto flooded Avila Beach Drive in San Luis Obispo County.
The woman reportedly drove onto the flooded roadway despite the signs and ended up drowning.
Several other vehicles were submerged and stranded in the same flooded roadway, according to scanner chatter.
