Tribune’s Best: Vote for SLO County’s best athlete of Feb. 27-March 6

Spring has arrived, and a full slate of athletes from several sports are up for consideration for San Luis Obispo County high school Athlete of the Week.

Last week’s winner, covering the tail end of winter sports, was Nipomo girls soccer’s Annette Vargas, who garnered more than 14,871 votes (covering Feb. 13-27).

Runners-up were Cooper Guffey of Templeton High baseball with 9,032 votes and Alexis Acosta of Nipomo soccer with 7,912 votes.

This week’s poll will cover the sports week of Feb. 27-March 6 with 14 athletes up for consideration.

This is a fun, unscientific poll, and you may vote as many times as you wish to support your selection for The Tribune’s Athlete of the Week.

The poll closes at midnight on Sunday. To vote again, hit refresh.

Coaches, parents or students may nominate an athlete for next week’s prep poll consideration by emailing nwilson@thetribunenews.com and providing game stats for your nominee (full player name, stats and result of game).

Please write “Athlete of the Week nominee” in the subject line.

Polls will post weekly on Tuesdays through the end of the school year.

Have fun voting, and good luck!
