It’s no secret that Trader Joe’s is headed to Paso Robles — in fact, the bright red sign is hard to miss at its future home.

But as of this week, the newest Trader Joe’s location in San Luis Obispo County was still under construction on its corner lot at Golden Hills Plaza, right next to its other initial-sharing neighbor, TJ Maxx.

Upon first glance, the business might look close to opening, but according to Trader Joe’s relations manager Nakia Rohde, there’s no opening date — or even estimates — to report just yet.

“We’re happy to be opening a new Trader Joe’s store in Paso Robles,” she said. “We are making great progress toward opening.”

Paso Robles confirmed the popular grocer’s new location in February following rumors that circulated throughout Reddit the year before.

The new store joins the three established locations throughout the county in Templeton, SLO and Arroyo Grande.

At the Paso Robles location, the parking lot is still under construction — unpaved and filled with dumpsters and machinery.

Scaffolding lines the building, prohibiting any views to progress being made inside, and the outside appeared to still be under renovation.

Store manager Kristina Myers said that she’s currently hiring a crew for the highly anticipated store.

“I’m so happy to be opening this store in Paso Robles. It’s clear that the community is thrilled, and so are we,” Myers said. “I can’t wait for the neighborhood to see how beautiful this store is. I can’t wait to help our customers find their new favorite TJ’s products.”
