Trader Joe’s is on its way to Paso Robles — and leaders have officially confirmed its location.

The popular grocery store will take up a space at the Golden Hills Plaza, located at the intersection of Highway 46 and Golden Hill Road.

Paso Robles economic development manager Paul Sloan made the announcement at a City Council meeting on Feb. 3.

“This project was several years in the making, and we’re thrilled to have it now under construction,” he said.

The store was set to open up in the plaza on the east side of TJ Maxx, Sloan said. He did not provide a timeline for opening during the meeting.

“It’ll be a great addition to the shopping center,” he added.

The rumors that a Trader Joe’s was coming to Paso had been circling since early 2025.

In January, the company confirmed to The Tribune that it had plans for a new location, but did not confirm a location at that time.

The new store will mark the fourth SLO County location and the second in the North County. There are currently stores in SLO, Templeton and Arroyo Grande.
