Trader Joe’s has plans to open a new location in Paso Robles — but the exact spot and timeline are still up in the air.

The Tribune last year looked into rumors that the North County was getting another Trader Joe’s location.

At the time, now-city manager Chris Huot told The Tribune that the grocery store company had inquired about the city’s development process, but there were no official plans in the works.

While the details still aren’t nailed down, a Trader Joe’s spokesperson confirmed to The Tribune on Thursday that the chain does have plans to open up a Paso Robles store.

“At this time, we do not have a location or timeline to confirm,” spokesperson Nakia Rohde said in an email.

Rohde said the company hopes to open more new stores each year, and is actively looking at hundreds of neighborhoods across the nation.

A Paso Robles location was not yet added to the company’s list of locations opening soon.

The Tribune reached out to Huot for further comment but had not yet received comment as of Thursday afternoon.

A Paso Robles store would mark the fourth SLO County Trader Joe’s location and the second in the North County. There are currently stores in SLO, Templeton and Arroyo Grande.
