Anthropologie is about to open its new downtown SLO shop. Here’s what to expect
National retail chain Anthropologie celebrates its first day in operation in downtown San Luis Obispo this week.
The store, located at 887 Higuera St., opens to the public at 10 a.m. Friday. The 5,000-square-foot space was vacated by Express in January.
Anthropologie’s San Luis Obispo location will offer “contemporary apparel, home décor, accessories, and exclusive Anthropologie brands,” Dave Metz, the store’s regional manager, wrote in an email.
“We are so thrilled to be opening in San Luis Obispo,” said Metz, who grew up in the Central Coast city. “Kristen Bragunier, the district manager, went to Cal Poly, and our new hires are thrilled to be a part of the Anthropologie family.”
Created as a lifestyle brand that caters to “creative, educated and affluent 30 to 45-year-old women,” Anthropologie specializes in women’s apparel, accessories, intimates, beauty products, home furniture and décor, the company’s website said.
The San Luis Obispo location will feature 70% women’s apparel, including denim, blouses, tops and dresses, Metz said in July, with an emphasis on a casual, relaxed California lifestyle.
In addition, 30% of the shop will “feature home products to compliment the in-store experience,” Metz said.
SLO Anthrologie store hours and hiring
Headquartered in Philadelphia, Anthrolopogie is part of the portfolio of the company URBN, which operates the global brands Urban Outfitters, Free People, BHLDN, Terrain, Menus & Venues and Nuuly.
The first Anthrolopogie store opened in 1992 in Wayne, Pennsylvania, according to the company’s website.
The chain’s San Luis Obispo shop will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The store is “always hiring, and you can apply online or walk into our store and apply with the management” for a job, Metz said.
