Grocery Outlet is close to opening in Arroyo Grande. Here’s when

The opening date for Arroyo Grande’s newest grocery store is closer than many realized.

According to a company spokeswoman, the new Grocery Outlet at the old Kmart center is expected to open Feb. 27. The spokeswoman cautioned that that date could change as it gets closer to the actual opening.

The grocery store will be the first Grocery Outlet in the South County, and its fifth in SLO County.

The discount-priced grocery store is based out of Emeryville. It has more than 320 independently operated stores in the United States, including locations in Atascadero, Los Osos, Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo.

The development has been under construction for several months with a slate of new businesses expected to open there in the coming weeks. Planet Fitness is looking to open in early March, and a Starbucks with a drive-through is expected this summer.

A True Value hardware store is also expected to fill one of the spaces.
