Downtown SLO ice cream shop robbed at gunpoint, police say
A downtown San Luis Obispo dessert shop was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday evening, police said.
Lt. Bill Proll of the San Luis Obispo Police Department said the robbery reportedly took place about 6:25 p.m. at Batch, a store known for its ice cream sandwiches, at 1108 Broad St.
The robber brandished a handgun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Proll said.
Proll said the robber was described as a white male in his 30s, wearing a navy blue long-sleeved hoodie and a black baseball cap with an emblem on the front.
The robber reportedly had a thin build and was estimated to be about 6 feet, 5 inches tall, Proll said.
No injuries were reported. The incident is under investigation. Surveillance footage or photos of the incident were not immediately available.
The Batch robbery follows several other recent reported armed robberies in SLO County.
On Tuesday, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office released security-camera photos of a man who brandished a gun as he robbed a gas station in San Miguel on Sunday morning.
A masked man armed with a handgun robbed a gas station in Paso Robles early on Halloween morning, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.
Just days before that, Atascadero police said two armed men robbed a gas station and eluded authorities despite a multi-agency search involving K-9 units and a CHP helicopter.
Anyone who has information about Wednesday’s robbery at Batch can contact the San Luis Obispo Police Department at 805-781-7317 or San Luis Obispo County Crime Stoppers at 805-549-STOP.
