Paso Robles breaks 17-year-old high temperature record

Paso Robles broke record-high temperatures Wednesday, but the North County city can expect cooler temperatures later in the week as cloudy weather and rainstorms move in.

The mercury reached 106 degrees Fahrenheit Wednesday at the Paso Robles Municipal Airport, according to PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey. The previous record in Paso Robles, Lindsey said, was a high of 99 degrees in 2003.

While Paso Robles saw triple-digit temperatures, coastal areas were in the 50s on Wednesday.

According to Lindsey, temperatures throughout San Luis Obispo County are forecast to drop. By Friday night into Saturday, parts of the county may see some rain showers and thunderstorms, he said.

Paso Robles is expected to get up to the mid-90s Thursday, while San Luis Obispo will reach the mid-70s, Lindsey said. Coastal towns are expected to have cooler weather, between the high 50s and mid-60s, according to Lindsey.

By Friday, Paso Robles will see 70-degree weather, a more than 30-degree difference from Wednesday, Lindsey said.
