Dust off the barbecue and break out your picnic blankets, San Luis Obispo County is in for a warm and sunny Labor Day weekend.

Temperatures could reach the high 90s in the North County, while San Luis Obispo will enjoy balmy 70- and 80-degree days throughout the weekend.

San Luis Obispo County beaches, however, will be a bit chilly through the holiday.

Here’s what to expect from the weather during Labor Day weekend.

What will weather be like for Labor Day?

The dense fog that blanketed San Luis Obispo on Friday morning was expected to lift by 11 a.m., making way for a partly sunny day with a high of 76 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Then, residents could expect a cool, 55-degree night in the Central Coast city.

Meanwhile, patchy fog was expected to accompany a cool morning in Paso Robles on Friday. When the fog burned off, Paso Robles was forecast to hit a high of 92 degrees.

In coastal cities like Pismo Beach and Morro Bay, the fog was expected to lift Friday mid-morning, before making way for slightly warmer temperatures. In Pismo Beach, the high was forecast for 69 degrees with wind gusts up to 20 mph, while Morro Bay would only hit as high as 63 degrees.

Fog was forecast to return to both areas in the evening.

Saturday will be sunny in San Luis Obispo with a high of 78 degrees — ideal weather for a picnic at the park. Saturday night will feature patchy fog after 11 p.m. with a low of about 55 degrees, the Weather Service said.

Pismo Beach could see a sunny day emerge after clouds gradually give way Saturday morning, with a high near 71 degrees. Morro Bay will stay slightly cooler with a high of 65 degrees.

On Sunday, San Luis Obispo will experience patchy fog before 11 a.m. When the sunshine breaks through the clouds, the city will see a high near 79 degrees, according to the Weather Service. Wind gusts could reach 15 mph.

Paso Robles can expect a sunny Sunday with a high near 96 degrees, the Weather Service said.

Temperatures along the beaches on Sunday would stay mostly the same, with highs in the mid to high 60s for both Pismo Beach and Morro Bay.

Labor Day will be the warmest day of the weekend in San Luis Obispo.

Patchy fog before 11 a.m. was likely to usher in a mostly sunny day with a high of 81 degrees.

Paso Robles will have an even warmer Labor Day, with a high near 96 degrees. Monday night will cool to about 58 degrees, the Weather Service said.

Pismo Beach and Morro Bay will have high temperatures in the high 60s after patchy morning fog clears around 11 a.m., according to the Weather Service.
