Police identified the two people who died by gunshot wounds in a suspected murder-suicide in Grover Beach on Saturday as 28-year-old Owen James Wesner and 24-year-old Emily Lourin Reilly.
According to a Grover Beach Police Department Facebook post at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to call in the 300 block of North Third Street and discovered Wesner and Reilly dead inside the home upon their arrival around 1 a.m.
Both were found with gunshot wounds, Grover Beach Police Chief Jim Munro told The Tribune. On Monday, Munro said the incident was still being investigated as a murder-suicide. A cause of death has not been officially issued.
“Autopsies are scheduled and will hopefully provide more information,” Munro said.
Munro said the department could not release additional details at this time, but that the investigation remains ongoing.
The incident occurred in an alleyway of single-story apartments between North Third Street and North Second Street.
One neighbor who declined to be identified told The Tribune she did not hear the gunshots despite being awake at the time. She said she was surprised to hear guns were involved because she thought she would have heard it.
