Driver arrested after high-speed chase, standoff in Los Osos
A driver was arrested Wednesday morning after a high-speed chase and standoff in Los Osos.
According to State Parks Superintendent Dan Falat, just before noon a State Parks peace officer attempted to stop a reckless driver in Los Osos who had allegedly drove 90 mph in a 45 mph zone in town.
After ignoring the ranger’s directions to stop, the driver took off and was pursued several blocks to a residence on 16th Street, Falat said.
After briefly losing visual contact, officers were able to track him down, with help from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol’s helicopter, Falat said.
But the man then refused to leave the home.
Eventually, rangers were able to coax him from the residence, but shortly after walking out of the house he appeared to change his mind and ran back into the house, Falat said.
The driver was then tased and taken into custody, Falat said.
