Cal Fire rescues occupant of car that overturned into Morro Bay Estuary
One person was rescued after a vehicle overturned and landed in the wetlands of the Morro Bay Estuary on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information page, at around 1:28 p.m. a single vehicle reportedly veered off South Bay Boulevard and rolled onto its top.
Several vehicles pulled over in the area of the crash, and a tow truck was dispatched to the scene at around 1:30 p.m, according to the CHP page.
Emergency responders from Cal Fire arrived at the location at around 1:35 p.m., finding one patient trapped in the vehicle in need of extrication, according to the police scanner.
Both lanes of Turri Road were blocked by the CHP as of 1:36 p.m., according to the CHP page.
As of 1:53 p.m., one patient was being transported to the hospital, according to the police scanner. Traffic was backed up and alternating in a single late as of 2:10 p.m.
