A man was arrested after a brief chase Friday afternoon when deputies were alerted he had attempted to pass a bad check at a Nipomo bank, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tony Cipolla, the man ran off when deputies arrived at the bank.

“A foot pursuit ensued,” Cipolla said.

The man was then found and taken into custody near the Tefft Street exit at Highway 101, he said.
