SLO County coach arrested on suspicion of selling drugs after pills were found at his home
A San Luis Obispo coach was arrested on suspicion of selling narcotics following a police search warrant on Wednesday.
Several months ago, Trevor Mason, 22, was suspected of selling counterfeit Adderall, which has similar chemical components to methamphetamine, according to a San Luis Obispo police media release.
Detectives served a search warrant at Mason’s home on Wednesday on the 500 block of Highland Drive, according to the release.
“During the search, detectives discovered a large quantity of suspected narcotic pills, psilocybin mushrooms and packaging indicative of narcotic sales,” the release said.
KSBY News reported Mason was a junior varsity football coach at Morro Bay High School for the 2024 season, according to the school’s athletic director, who said the school had already decided he wouldn’t be back next year.
Mason’s Instagram account, which has since been deleted, listed him as as an athletic trainer and coach who had worked with Morro Bay football and the CCRiptide baseball program.
Mason was arrested and booked in San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges including felony possession of substances for sale, felony transportation of a substance for sale and sales of a substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
Bail was set at $50,000, according to the release. Mason posted and was released from custody.
Mason’s next court date is set for March 5, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
San Luis Obispo police continue to investigate the matter.
