Woman reports man following her ‘for hours.’ He had concealed gun, drugs, Morro Bay police say
A man was arrested in Morro Bay on Saturday night after he was allegedly found with a concealed loaded gun, meth and other drugs and weapons.
The man, 60-year-old Daniel Tiss, was found following a woman while under the influence of a controlled substance, according to a Facebook post by the Morro Bay Police Department.
Police said officers and one sergeant responded to a call near Main Street in the downtown bar area of Morro Bay just after 8 p.m. on Saturday.
The woman called the police after Tiss had been “following her for hours,” Officer Gene Stuart told The Tribune on Monday.
The woman pointed Tiss out to police when they arrived on the scene, Stuart said. He was wearing a long rain coat and a backwards hat.
The Police Department had previously contacted Tiss for alleged public intoxication, petty theft and drug possession, Stuart said.
When police found Tiss was under the influence of drugs, they performed a pat down search for weapons for their safety, the post said.
During the pat down, officers found what felt like a concealed firearm in a shoulder holster, the post said.
They discovered a loaded .38 caliber hand gun, “a usable amount of methamphetamine” and other drug paraphernalia and weapons, the post said.
A picture accompanying the Facebook post showed a switch blade and a bag of what appeared to be marijuana with the rest of the weapons and drugs.
Tiss did not have a concealed weapons permit, the post said.
Tiss was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of five charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, concealed carry of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, Stuart said.
“If you notice someone suspicious, suspicious actions, or something just does not seem right, always feel free to call and we will respond,” the post said. “A simple phone call led to the removal of this individual off of our streets.”
