Cal Poly resident wakes to intruder holding their hands over the victim’s face
A resident in the Poly Canyon Village apartments at Cal Poly awoke early Saturday morning to find an intruder in the room holding their hands over the resident’s face, Cal Poly said in a campus email.
The resident fought back and a struggle ensued, Cal Poly said, leading the suspect to flee out the front door.
Cal Poly said the incident, which was labeled a burglary, was reported at about 3 a.m.
Law enforcement is now asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect, who was described as a young Asian adult male with neck-length hair, wearing a gray sweatshirt and khaki pants.

Cal Poly announced the incident by issuing a “timely warning crime bulletin” in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act, which aims “to provide preventative information to the campus community to aid members from becoming the victim of a similar crime.”
The Clery Act requires campus officials to issue an alert when a crime occurs that presents a serious or ongoing threat to the campus community.
