Swimmer in dress clothes rescued from waters off Shell Beach

A swimmer was pulled to safety Friday after Cal Fire responded to a request for a water rescue in the ocean off Shell Beach.

South Coast Battalion Chief Chad Fleming said at around 3:25 p.m. an individual wearing dress clothes was reported in need of a water rescue around 300 yards off of Ebb Tide Road.

Cal Fire dispatched multiple emergency response vehicles and was working with the Pismo Beach Police Department and Port San Luis Harbor Authority to retrieve the victim by around 3:30 p.m., dispatching a trio of rescue swimmers shortly afterwards, according to PulsePoint.

The victim was reported as being on a rescue boat around 3:42 p.m., with additional aid from Port San Luis and Cal Fire being canceled shortly afterwards, according to PulsePoint.
