Police arrest juvenile who allegedly set fire in Paso Robles neighborhood

A juvenile was arrested after allegedly setting a fire in Paso Robles on Friday morning.

According to a Paso Robles Police Department news release, officers on patrol noticed a brush fire in the area of North River Road and Union Road around 9:43 a.m.

When they arrived at the scene, they saw a male juvenile running away from the fire, which was set on a hillside backing up to a residential street, the release said.

The Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the fire and none of the nearby homes were damaged, according to the release.

At about 11:08 a.m., the Police Department was then notified of a male juvenile seen attempting to light a fire next to the burn spot from the earlier fire, the release said.

Officers arrived on scene and located the unnamed juvenile, who was determined to be the same person who was seen running away from the fire earlier.

He was arrested on suspicion of charges of recklessly setting a fire, according to the release.

The investigation was ongoing. The Paso Robles Police Department requested anyone with information to call the department at 805-237-6464. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stopper’s 24- hour hotline at 805-549-STOP or text “SLOTIPS” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).
