Update: Suspect arrested after deadly shooting in Creston, stabbing in Paso Robles

Update, 3:30 p.m.:

The suspect was located on St. Anne Drive in Paso Robles and arrested by the Paso Robles Police Department, according to an updated news release.

A man wanted in a deadly shooting Wednesday morning in Creston is now also suspected of stabbing a women in Paso Robles.

Both the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and the Paso Robles Police Department are looking for Cruz Gomez, who is the same suspect in both crimes.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Cipolla confirmed both agencies were searching for the same man. They are currently “trying to determine if the two incidents are related,” he said.

At 7:30 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a potential shooting in the 9000 block of Goldie Lane in Creston off Highway 58.

When deputies arrived at the location, they discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. Medical aid was administered, but the victim died from his wounds a short time later, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release at 2:25 p.m.

In the news release, the Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Cruz Christopher Gomez, 42, of Creston, saying “he is considered armed and dangerous” but that “there is no indication of any threats against the general public.”

At the same time, however, Paso Robles police were dealing with an apparently related crime in their city.

Shortly after 2 p.m., before the sheriff’s news release, Paso police issued a their own release about a stabbing that had occurred just an hour earlier, around 1 p.m.

The Police Department said it was searching for a man, Cruz Gomez Jr. who is suspected of trying to kill a Paso Robles women by stabbing her multiple times.

Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Alamo Creek in Paso Robles shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, where they discovered a female victim with multiple stab wounds, according to a news release from the department. She was transported to the hospital for treatment, the release said.

Paso Robles police described Gomez as bald, wearing a dark-colored jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.
