Original story:

A man was shot Wednesday morning in Santa Margarita and a male suspect was on the loose, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was reported about 7:30 a.m. on Goldie Lane, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Cipolla, at a property off Highway 58 between Santa Margarita and Creston.

The extent of the man’s injuries were not disclosed as of 1:30 p.m.

The male suspect fled and Sheriff’s Office officials were in the process of trying to positively identify him as of early Wednesday afternoon, Cipolla said.

“He may be armed but there is no indication of any threats against the general public,” Cipolla added. “We believe this is an isolated incident.”

Cipolla said the office would release more information as it became available.
