3 men arrested in connection with stabbing at Atascadero home, police say

The Atascadero Police Department arrested two men on suspicion of attempted murder and another on suspicion of criminal conspiracy in connection with a stabbing a week ago.

On March 25, Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton reached out to the Atascadero Police Department about a victim of a stabbing that was being treated there, according to a police news release sent Thursday.

Police identified the victim as a 38-year-old Atascadero man.

The man told police that he was stabbed three times at his home on Monterey Road in Atascadero by three men, the release said.

The stabbing was related to a stolen vehicle that was recovered Wednesday night, according to the police.

Police arrested James Forte, 50, of Morro Bay on March 27 on suspicion of attempted murder, robbery, criminal conspiracy and burglary. Forte was being held Thursday at San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

The second suspect, an unnamed 41-year-old man from Paso Robles, was arrested in Porterville for unrelated reasons and is currently waiting to be sent back to San Luis Obispo County, the release said. He will be booked for the same charges as Forte, police said.

The third suspect, an unnamed 53-year-old man from San Luis Obispo, will be charged with criminal conspiracy at a later time, according to the release.
