Teenager allegedly makes online threat against Central Coast college

A teenage boy made an online threat against Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria two weeks ago, according to a news release from the Santa Maria Police Department.

Around 3 a.m. Thursday, police were made aware of the threat, which was posted on social media, the release said.

According to the police department, officers and detectives began investigating immediately.

Detectives identified the suspect behind the threat as a 13-year-old boy who lives in Santa Maria, police said.

The teenager admitted to posting the threat online, according to the release. Due to the suspect’s age, his identifying information will not be released.

Santa Maria police said the threat to student and staff safety was determined to be unsubstantiated.
