One suspect has been arrested and police are searching for two others for a string of vehicle burglaries in north Morro Bay almost two weeks ago.
According to the Morro Bay Police Department, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office deputies working patrol in Arroyo Grande observed a vehicle belonging to Dylan McGee, 24, of Santa Maria, at about 12:15 p.m. Friday in the area after the vehicle was identified as being related to the burglaries.
Deputies conducted a vehicle stop at Highway 101 and Traffic Way and detained McGee, police said in a news release.
McGee was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property and conspiracy, police said. He remained in jail custody as of Tuesday afternoon in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Police are still looking for 21-year-old Morgan Dawn Taylor and 27-year-old Patrick Ivey, who are believed to be associated with a lifted 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck with a license plate number of 8K71926.
Officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Nutmeg Avenue at 7:06 a.m. March 22 to investigate a suspicious person checking car doors and looking into vehicles, the Morro Bay Police Department said at the time.
The police department reportedly received its first call about a vehicle burglary, involving a vehicle on the 2500 block of Laurel Avenue, at 7:59 a.m March 22.
Additional vehicle burglaries were then reported on the north end of town, at the 1100 block of Balboa Street and the 900 block of Marina Street, police said.
According to police, purses and wallets were stolen from the vehicles. Several victims reported their credit cards being used at local businesses in Morro Bay and in San Luis Obispo, the release said.
