Thief assaulted security guard with liquor bottle at SLO County grocery store, police say

Update, 3:20 p.m.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of using a liquor bottle to assault a supermarket security guard during a theft, the Grover Beach Police Department said Monday via Twitter.

A “citizens report” helped police locate the teen, who’s now in custody on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, the agency said.

The Grover Beach Police Department is looking for a thief who used a liquor bottle to assault a security guard at a local grocery store Monday afternoon.

The liquor bottle was the only item stolen, according to police.

Police say the person was last seen around 1 p.m. heading west on Grand Avenue in Grover Beach on foot.

The police are asking anyone with information to call 805-473-4511.
