Mountain lion spotted wandering through Santa Maria
A mountain lion was on the prowl in Santa Maria on Tuesday evening, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office asked residents to stay inside while it worked with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife to contain the animal on the 4300 block of Coachman Way.
The cougar was reported just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office said via Twitter.
As of 5:34 p.m. the agency reported via Twitter that the animal had been “safety captured.”
