Film crew spotted outside downtown SLO bookstore. What are they shooting?
A film crew was spotted in downtown San Luis Obispo early Wednesday morning — but mum’s the word on exactly what they were shooting.
According to an individual associated with the production, the crew was filming a spot for a fashion brand with a planned release this fall.
The crew consisted of around a dozen people and were staged near Phoenix Books, from the entrance of Boo Boo Records to the corner of Monterey and Osos streets, where they unloaded a variety of camera and lighting equipment on the sidewalk.
All members of the crew were under non-disclosure agreements and would not specify which brand the commercial was for early in the day.
However, when the production moved to Scout Coffee in the afternoon, an individual associated with the production told passersby that the shoot was for Hollister.
An individual associated with the production said the crew was working to be respectful of the needs of nearby businesses while it completes its shoot through Wednesday.
Film SLO Cal commissioner Matt Halvorson said the organization could not name the production or provide a timeline for filming due to the commission’s privacy policy.
“Over the years, visiting crews have consistently shared how welcoming and film-friendly our communities are, making SLO Cal a great place to work both on and off set,” Halvorson said in an email. “While we cannot comment on specific productions while they are actively filming, we are proud to continue promoting SLO Cal as a premier filming destination.”
