Cause of fire that scorched SLO County home revealed
Authorities have revealed the cause of a destructive house fire that scorched a home in San Luis Obispo County on Wednesday.
According to a news release from Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services, the fire was caused by “improperly discarded rags” that had been used to stain wood.
Photos provided by the department showed flames bursting out of a second-floor window of the home as authorities fought to knock down the blaze.
The home appeared in the photos to have sustained extensive damage.
The house fire broke out at 8315 Los Osos Road before noon on Wednesday, extending into the vegetation.
When authorities arrived on scene, the fire was burning in approximately 25% of the home, Thursday’s release said. The fire was contained by 12:26 p.m., with crews continuing to mop up on scene.
According to the release, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
