Woman, dog injured after being hit by car while walking in SLO County

A woman was hit by a car while walking her dog in Shell Beach on Monday evening, sending her to the hospital.

Around 5:20 p.m. on Monday, a woman and her dog were walking at the corner of Boeker Avenue and Shell Beach Boulevard when a car crashed into them, Pismo Beach Police Department Officer Brian Hanson told The Tribune.

A person who said they witnessed the crash and called an ambulance posted on Nextdoor that the car, a Mini Cooper, “dragged” the woman and dog.

Both the woman and the dog were hurt, and the woman was transported to Adventist Health Sierra Vista hospital with serious injuries, he said.

Neither Drugs nor alcohol are suspected to be a cause of the crash, Hanson said.
