Teen fatally hit by animal control truck in SLO identified

A pedestrian who was hit and killed by an animal control truck in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday has been identified.

San Luis Obispo resident Brooklyn Gutierrez, 18, was killed in the crash on Orcutt Road near La Lomita Way, according to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Angela Molinar.

An animal control truck struck Gutierrez while driving into the city at around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The CHP, San Luis Obispo City Fire Department, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and San Luis Ambulance responded to the incident.

Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene, emergency responders told the Tribune.
