A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday afternoon — causing the California Highway Patrol to close two roads in the area.

An animal control truck hit the pedestrian while driving into the city at about 4:15 p.m. on Orcutt Road near La Lomita Way, the CHP traffic log said.

The pedestrian was killed in the crash, emergency responders told The Tribune on the scene.

The CHP closed Orcutt Road and La Lomita Way just outside the city limits.

The road will be closed for an “undetermined amount of time,” the CHP said in a post on X.

The CHP, San Luis Obispo City Fire Department, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and San Luis Ambulance responded to the scene.
