A new luxury home development is coming to this SLO County town. Where?
A new luxury housing development broke ground in northern San Luis Obispo County.
On Wednesday, developer Coastal Community Builders held its ceremonial groundbreaking at 0 Bennett Way in Templeton, kicking off production on 15 luxury homes.
One of the 15 homes will be deed-restricted as affordable housing, and some lots will have the capacity to add accessory dwelling units down the line.
Coastal Community Builders CEO Cam Boyd, speaking at the groundbreaking during a windy, rainy afternoon, said the project is an opportunity to build a type of housing that is increasingly uncommon in San Luis Obispo County.
“These days in the home building industry, finding large lot developments is fairly rare,” Boyd said. “The trends for building have been for greater and greater density, smaller lots, condominiums, town homes, so when you’re able to get a new development that’s going to have large, estate-style lots, that’s rare, and it’s adding a lot of value to the community.”

As Boyd said, Bennett Ranch’s larger home lots are an exception in modern development.
Homes will sit on lots between around 21,000 and 32,000 square feet on a piece of currently undeveloped land, according to the project’s website.
Each home will take up a proportionally small piece of the lots, ranging between 2,718 and 2,952 square feet, and include three-car garages, according to the developer.
The homes come with four bedrooms and either three or four bathrooms, along with optional office and en-suite configurations, according to the developer.
Construction is slated to start in May, weather permitting, with presales starting in late spring or early summer 2026, the developer said.
The first homes are expected to be completed in 2027, with a projected cost of around $1.5 million, the developer said.
The homes are the product of RRM Design Group, a frequent collaborator of Coastal Community Builders, along with BMA Mechanical and Above Grade Engineering, Boyd said.
Boyd said some of the lots were designed with ADUs in mind, offering future investment opportunities for buyers.
“Many of these 15 homes are going to have ADUs as well, which is really nice when you’ve got a large lot and a nice new home to have, either a second income stream that can help supplement your mortgage, or multi-generational living,” Boyd said.
Paso Robles and Templeton Chambers of Commerce CEO Robert Covarrubias echoed Boyd’s sentiments, and said the development “reflects thoughtful and intentional growth for Templeton.”
“This development also plays an important role in strengthening our local economy and structure, in securing our future,” Covarrubias said. “New homes mean new families, new customers for small business and a continued vitality for our schools, restaurants and downtown.”
