Police identify 70-year-old pedestrian hit and killed by car in SLO

San Luis Obispo police have identified the woman who was hit by a car and killed in SLO last week.

Maria Dolores Harper Morgan, a 70-year-old San Luis Obispo resident, was struck by a vehicle as she was crossing Santa Rosa Street near Montalban Street before dawn on Wednesday, police previously reported.

She suffered major injuries and, despite lifesaving efforts by police and fire responders, was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

Her next of kin had been notified as of Monday morning, SLO Police Department spokesperson Christine Wallace told The Tribune.

The driver — a 66-year-old San Luis Obispo resident — remained on scene and was cooperating with the investigation, police previously said.

Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be a factor in the incident.
