Pedestrian hit and killed by car in San Luis Obispo

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday morning, the San Luis Obispo Police Department said.
The car struck the pedestrian at about 6:15 a.m. in the northbound lane of Santa Rosa Street near Montalban Street, police said.
For a few hours after the crash, the northbound lane of Santa Rosa Street was closed from Olive Street to Murray Avenue, and traffic was restricted to one lane in the southbound lane of Santa Rosa Street.
All roadways were open by 12:10 p.m.
Officers documented the scene beside a dented Toyota with front-end damage on Wednesday morning. The car was parked in the center of the turn lane with emergency flashers on at about 8 a.m.
Police marked evidence in the street, including shoes and a purse about a block away in front of the gas stations.
The crash was under investigation.
