Rollover crash slows traffic on Hwy. 101 in SLO County

A rollover crash slowed southbound traffic on Highway 101 in Pismo Beach on Friday morning.

The single-vehicle crash occurred near the Spyglass Drive exit in Shell Beach at around 11:47 a.m, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.

Caltrans traffic cameras showed a silver SUV flipped onto its roof, blocking the right lane of the highway, with debris scattered in the roadway.

Smoke could be seen rising from the vehicle soon after the crash, the CHP page said.

Two occupants were reported to have exited the car, according to the website. Firefighters and an ambulance arrived within 15 minutes to treat the occupants at the scene.

Cars were moving slowly in the left lane, the Caltrans QuickMap showed, with traffic backing up to past Avila Beach Drive.

A flatbed truck arrived to flip the damaged SUV and hall it way. The highway was clear and both lanes open by 1 p.m.
