3.2-magnitude earthquake rattles SLO County

Seismic waves of earthquake

A 3.2-magnitude earthquake shook the North Coast of San Luis Obispo County early Thursday morning, but was not widely felt because it occurred in the middle of the night.

The quake was located 9.3 miles northwest of San Simeon, southeast of Ragged Point near San Carpoforo Creek, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was recorded at a depth of 3.2 miles.

The quake was felt as far away as Atascadero, according to the USGS’ “Did You Feel It?” page.

State Parks sector Superintendent Eric Hjelstrom said there were no reports of damage at Hearst Castle or other North Coast state parks.
