Traffic slows to a crawl on Highway 101 in SLO County. Here’s why

Traffic slowed to a crawl on Highway 101 through Arroyo Grande on Thursday morning after Caltrans closed a lane for construction.

Caltrans closed one lane of northbound Highway 101 from Fair Oaks Avenue to Grand Avenue to repair a guardrail, according to the Caltrans QuickMap.

The lane should be re-opened by 2 p.m., Caltrans said.

According to the QuickMap, standstill traffic jams were reported from the area of El Campo Road to Los Berros Road as of 12:15 p.m.
