Cal Fire responds to house fire at SLO County golf community
Cal Fire responded Tuesday evening to a fire at a home in the Cypress Ridge golf community in Arroyo Grande, reporting “heavy smoke” and flames coming from the structure.
The fire sparked in a home on the 800 block of Chukar Street around 5:50 p.m., according to emergency response app PulsePoint.
Five Cities Fire Authority Battalion Chief Ryan Bird said the initial call was for a vehicle potentially on fire in the home’s garage.
When his unit arrived first at the Nipomo Mesa scene, he said they found a single-story, single-family residence with heavy smoke showing from the garage. Further investigation showed “heavy smoke down to the floor” inside the home and some fire spread up into the attic, Bird said.
“We had a well-involved, working fire,” he said. “We did get a primary search completed very quickly and confirmed everyone was safely evacuated from the house.”
Bird said the home had two residents, both of whom were safe following the fire.
According to emergency radio traffic, at least one person at the scene was treated for potential smoke inhalation. Bird said he was unaware of any injuries and added that nobody was transported to the hospital from the scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
