A crash on Highway 101 brought traffic to a standstill over the Cuesta Grade on Thursday evening after a trailer overturned on the road.
According to California Highway Patrol’s incident report page, a trailer being towed by a truck overturned on southbound Highway 101 just south of the summit at about 4:53 p.m.
A motorcyclist may have been hit in the incident, CHP said, though further details were not immediately available.
Meanwhile, the No. 1 and No. 2 southbound lanes of the highway were blocked, according to emergency scanner traffic. Units at scene were requesting help from Caltrans for traffic control on both sides of the highway.
The trailer could be seen resting on its side in the southbound lanes, perpendicular to the center divider.
CHP San Luis Obispo warned drivers to choose an alternate route as extended delays were expected in the area.
According to the Caltrans Quickmap, southbound traffic was at a standstill in the area of Old Stage Coach Road as of 5:10 p.m.
It was also nearly stopped on the northbound lanes from the summit to about the Vista De La Ciudad area.
