An overnight fire at a fraternity house near San Luis Obispo required at least one rescue late Friday night.

According to Cal Fire public information office Ryan Grebe, at around 2:45 a.m. Saturday the San Luis Obispo Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to reports of a fire in the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house in the 700 block of West Foothill Boulevard.

Arriving at the scene of the fire shortly after receiving the call, the San Luis Obispo Fire Department found one room on fire, Grebe said.

The San Luis Obispo Fire Department evacuated all residents from the home and retrieved one person who was still sleeping at the time of the fire, Grebe said.

Cal Fire took over operations and extinguished the fire before it could spread to the rest of the home, Grebe said.

While the building’s inhabitants were displaced over the weekend while damage was assessed and repaired, residents were returning to the house as of Tuesday, according to a repairman at the property.
