A Templeton man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Thursday while driving on Highway 41 near Creston, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Joseph L. Haga, 71, was driving a 2020 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Highway 41 near Mile Post Marker 34 just after noon, the CHP said in a news release.

Haga was traveling at an unknown speed when he began to turn right on the roadway, and “for unknown reasons” drove off the side of the highway, the CHP said.

Haga struck a barbed wire fence before being ejected off the motorcycle, the agency said.

According to the release, the San Luis Obispo County man sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the incident, which is currently under investigation, the CHP said.
