This SLO County beach is among the best in the nation, according to Tripadvisor
A San Luis Obispo County beach is among the best in the nation for the second year in a row, according to popular travel site Tripadvisor.
Cambria’s Moonstone Beach is one of three California spots that landed on TripAdvisor’s list of the Top 25 Beaches in the United States as part of the 2022 Travelers’ Choice Awards.
“White sands, rugged coastlines, the works — these are the beaches that travelers dream of all year long,” Tripadvisor said.
Moonstone Beach landed at No. 4 at the Best of the Beach Beaches list, while La Jolla Cove in La Jolla took ninth place and Coronado Beach in Coronado took the No. 15 spot.
The travel site’s rankings were “based on the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings” from Tripadvisor users.

Tripadvisor called Moonstone Beach a “charming and natural beach” with scenic ocean views and a well-maintained wooden boardwalk.
“Wow, what a lovely beach,” one reviewer raved.
Another reviewer noted that the North Coast spot is “a great place to look for moonstones and jade. When the tide goes out you can explore the tidepools ... magical!”
“It is also a great place to view the sunset,” a different Tripadvisor user said.
Tripadvisor called La Jolla Cove “San Diego’s most desirable spot for swimming, diving and snorkeling.”
“This is a great spot to see lounging seals and pelicans — amidst a very scenic beach line,” one reviewer said.
Meanwhile, Coronado Beach, a popular spot for surfers, garnered praise for its clear waters, cleanliness and picturesque views.
“Miles of white sand and gorgeous views!” one reviewer said. “The ends are bordered by military property, and it is awesome to see the Navy SEALS training and doing drills.”
It’s not the first time Moonstone Beach has landed on Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best Beaches list.
The Cambria beach snagged the No. 3 spot on the list in 2021.
