Are you seeing smoke from Highway 101? Here’s why
See smoke from Highway 101?
That may be because of a controlled burn at Camp Roberts.
The California National Guard post started a controlled burn at 9 a.m. Wednesday at its main garrison near the border between San Luis Obispo and Monterey counties, according to a Facebook post on the Camp Roberts Installation Services page.
The Camp Roberts Fire Department is managing the burn, according to the Facebook post.
“Smoke will be visible from both north and southbound Hwy 101, contiguous properties and surrounding communities,” Camp Roberts said.
Folks can call the Camp Roberts Public Information Office at 805-610-6742 with “questions or concerns,” the post said.
Camp Roberts did not say why it is conducting the controlled burn near the freeway or how long it will take to complete.
