A UPS truck apparently crashed into a restaurant in Paso Robles Tuesday after the driver passed out due to a possible heat stroke, an employee confirmed to The Tribune.

The truck collided with a pillar holding up an overhang in front of Cali Grill around 2:30 p.m., the employee said. The pillar also had Cali Grill’s sign on it.

The entrance of Cali Grill itself is unharmed, the employee said.

The employee said they believe the driver of the UPS truck may have “blacked out” due to a heat stroke. It was about 101 degrees in Paso Robles at the time of the crash.

The business hopes to potentially reopen around 5:30 or 6 p.m., but may not be able to open until Wednesday.

No injuries have been reported.
