CHP releases name of woman killed during police chase near Nipomo

California Highway Patrol has released the identity of a Santa Maria woman killed during a car chase near Nipomo on Thursday morning.

According to CHP, dispatch was notified of a pursuit that morning involving a Honda Accord and the Guadalupe Police Department around 8:30 a.m.

During the pursuit, the Honda was traveling southbound on Bonita School Road from Division Street when its driver, Jessica Rose Gutierrez Moreno, 28, lost control of the vehicle on a turn.

The car swerved across the northbound lane and continued onto the dirt shoulder before crashing into a telephone pole, according to CHP.

Guadalupe police officers attempted live-saving measures, but Moreno died from her injuries at the scene, according to CHP.

CHP is handling the investigation into the incident.
