Update: Gas line shut off; roadways in Cambria are now open

All roadways in Cambria are now opened, according to a spokesperson at the CHP dispatch center.



Update 6:15 p.m.

The CHP incident page reported the ruptured gas was finally shut off at 5:32 p.m. at the commercial building which caught fire after a vehicle crashed into it..



Update 3:40 p.m.

San Luis Obispo City Fire units are assisting Cambria fire at the scene of the commercial fire on Burton Dr. in Cambria, according to a tweet.

Evacuations from the area of the commercial fire is a block away in all directions. Roads will be closed until the gas leak is contained. Closure locations are Burton Dr. and Rodeo Grounds Rd. , Main St. and Eton, Main St. at Tamson Dr.



Estimated time for the closures is unknown because the gas company has to dig up the roadway to contain the gas leak, according to a spokesperson at CAL Fire SLO dispatch center.

Update: 2:03 p.m.

Evacuations are being ordered by fire incident command that will go one block out from the fire scene due to a gas leak, according to scanner traffic. They are coordinating with law enforcement at the scene.



Update 1:54 p.m.

CHP dispatch log says the building hit is A Matter of Taste. The crash occurred at 1:05 p.m.

Update 1:48 p.m:

The burning building is about to collapse. Unknown if there are any victims involved, according to scanner traffic. Multiple rescue units are responding to assist the first responders.

Fire and rescue units are on scene of a vehicle that crashed into a building on Burton Drive and Center Street in Cambria, according to scanner traffic.

The vehicle is reportedly on fire and there is a report of a gas line broken and leaking.. Emergency personnel are on scene to block off the area and contain the gas leak.
