Update: Harbor Patrol rescues boat taking on water near Avila Beach
Update 4 p.m. Thursday
The Port San Luis District Harbor Patrol rescued four passengers from a boat that was taking on water Thursday afternoon about two miles north of Port San Luis Harbor, according to chief Harbor Patrol officer Matt Ashton.
Upon arrival, Harbor Patrol officers were able to get enough water out of the boat to be able to tow it back to Port San Luis where it was hauled out of the water, according to Ashton.

The Harbor Patrol and Coast Guard rescue boats were en route early Thursday afternoon to assist a small boat taking on water two miles north of Port San Luis Harbor, according to scanner.
The Boston Whaler lost its engine and was taking on water, according to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers. The boat had four occupants, all wearing life vests.
