Update: 4 killed in late-night car crash in Templeton

Update: Tuesday, 6 a.m.

Four people were found dead at the scene of a fatal car crash in Templeton Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol’s news release.

A male driver and three female passengers died in the collision into a tree on Neals Spring Road, according to the report.

“Despite the fact that all occupants in the vehicle were restrained by their seat-belts, the impact with the tree resulted in fatal injuries to the driver and all three passengers.” the report says.

The male driver of the vehicle had passed a slower vehicle on Neal Springs Road and accelerated at a high rate of speed. He then braked which caused the vehicle to rotate and spin out of control, down into a ditch and into a tree, according to the report.

“One passenger, despite wearing a seat belt, was ejected. The impact killed the driver and the other two passengers,” the report says.

“Although the main causative factors of the collision was the driver’s high-rate of speed, additional investigation is underway to determine the main contributing factors.” the report said.
