Rollover crash in Santa Maria requires ‘extensive extrication,’ fire officials say

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department and Santa Maria Fire Department responded to a rollover single-vehicle collision in the Santa Maria Valley on Monday morning.

The crash occurred around 3:49 a.m. Monday on West Main Avenue and Bonita School Road.

The incident involved one vehicle with a single driver, according to officials.

Firefighters had to conduct “extensive extraction” to free the driver from the vehicle, Santa Barbara County Fire Department Captain Daniel Bertucelli said.

The driver suffered minor to moderate injuries and was transferred to the Marian Regional Medical Center emergency room in Santa Maria via an AMR ambulance, according to Santa Barbara County Fire officials.

Traffic had to be mitigated for some time.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
